Course at a Glance
Computer Aided Design students will learn the fundamentals of mechanical design in this program. Working with industry professionals and student leaders, participants will complete the program with a final project presenting their original designs, implementing skills theyβve learned throughout, including:
Basic 2D and 3D sketching, modeling, and shaping
Working with modeling constraints, learning best practices
Brainstorming and iteration skills
Analyzing and recreating projects (plates, wheels, mechanisms, assemblies, etc.)
Applications to robotics systems (both FRC and FTC)
ELIGIBILITY & PREREQUISITES
MEA students are required to be incoming 8th grade students or above.
Students are expected to bring a laptop with necessary software (Autodesk Inventor) installed. Personal laptops are acceptable, and TRC heads are working to ensure necessary software is available on school laptops. More information will be provided after registration.
