Note: all summer training programs take place at the TRC warehouse

Course at a Glance

This program is for students who are interested in advancing their mechanical skills and potentially applying them towards the FIRST Tech Challenge. Students will work with professionals in the industry and student mentors to learn the following skills:

  • Using hand and power tools (ex. impact drivers, drills)

  • Using machine tools (ex. lathe, bandsaw, class 4 laser cutter)

  • Mechanical assembly (ex. wiring, soldering)

  • Troubleshooting and iterative improvement

  • Collaboration and problem solving skills

ELIGIBILITY & PREREQUISITES

FTC Project Applications students are required to be incoming 8th grade students or above.

To ensure all students are safe in the shop space, all FTCPA students are required to take the 2.5 hour Summer Safety Training course. This year, Summer Safety Training takes place at the warehouse on Saturday 6/21 10am - 12:30pm. Students will learn proper tool usage and emergency procedures, ending the session with a hands-on project.
