Course at a Glance

Introduction to Java is the perfect course for foundational Java skills. Through structured lessons and projects, students will learn the basics of coding, including the following skills:

  • Concatenation and syntax basics

  • Loops, conditionals, classes, methods and control structures

  • Arrays, 2-D arrays, and array applications

  • State machines and robot programming basics

  • Project-based problem-solving and collaboration skills

ELIGIBILITY & PREREQUISITES

Introduction to Java students are required to be rising 8th grade students or above.

Students are expected to bring a laptop with necessary software (VS Code) installed. Personal laptops are acceptable, and TRC heads are working to ensure necessary software is available on school laptops. More information will be provided after registration.
